TOMS RIVER – The Garden Club of Toms River, Veolia Water South Jersey, Toms River DPW employees, Mayor Maurice Hill, and Councilmen Kevin Geoghegan and Matt Lotano gathered at the Blue Star Memorial on Route 37 West to commemorate this installation of a garden hydrant at the site and to celebrate the cooperative spirit exhibited during the project.

Prior to the installation of the hydrant, Garden Club members would lug water from their homes to the site to care for the trees, plants and flowers they planted to honor our Armed Forces.

Club Officer Nancy Bianchini approached the Township and Veolia last year with the idea of a permanent water source. With infrastructure donated by Veolia and labor from the Township, the project is done.

The Blue Star Memorial, part of Winding River Park, is located on Route 37 West across from Community Medical Center.
